Multi-channel DAC

Multi-channel DACs are a bit rare, at least in home audio.
The reason is simple, there aren’t that many multi-channel recordings.
Often SACD contains a 6 channel version but this is a rather limited catalog.
Another reason to use a multi-channel DAC is when you start building a speaker system with active cross-over. There you need a DAC per driver.
